In the year 2000, David Kilpatrick first started to make his own cheesecakes. Initially it was for his own enjoyment, but soon turned into a small part time job of making them for his friends and co-workers.
In 2003 he relocated to Columbus, so his wife could attend OSU. After arriving in Columbus, he quickly discovered it was hard to find Real Cheesecakes. The best cheesecakes central Ohio knew came out of a factory in California. It has long been a dream of Dave's to step out on his own and start a business. This seemed like a perfect opportunity for him to combine his love of cheesecakes and his desire to start his own business. It was also an opportunity to solve the problem of Columbus not having great cheesecakes. So in October of 2003, David opened the Columbus CHEESECAKE Company in the Grandview area of Columbus, Ohio.
